Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based, goal-oriented treatment that helps you break unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior.

What is CBT?

Developed by Dr. Aaron T. Beck, CBT is based on the principle that our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and behaviors are interconnected. Unhelpful thinking patterns create negative cycles that maintain emotional distress.

CBT targets three core areas to break negative emotional cycles:

  1. Cognitive Restructuring: Helps you identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns.

  2. Behavioral Activation: Encourages you to face avoided situations and build rewarding routines.

  3. Practical Skill Building: equips you with concrete tools to manage stress, regulate emotions, and solve daily challenges effectively.

Treatment follows a structured, action-oriented process that begins with setting concrete goals and identifying the thought-behavior patterns driving your distress.

You will then practice practical skills both in session and through real-world exercises, ultimately building the long-term independence needed to maintain your progress over time.
