CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS

Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)

When a child struggles with severe anxiety, OCD, or food avoidance, parent accommodations often trap families in an exhausting cycle. SPACE helps parents step out of this loop and restore balance to the household.

What is SPACE?

SPACE is an evidence-based treatment developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz at the Yale Child Study Center. It is designed to treat anxiety, OCD, and restrictive eating disorders like ARFID in children and teens.

What makes SPACE unique:

Your child does not need to attend therapy. Instead, SPACE works directly with parents. By changing how parents respond to their child's fears, they can help their child build resilience, reduce anxiety, and regain independence

Who is SPACE Therapy for?

  • Parents and caregivers of children, adolescents, and young adults

  • Children who have anxiety disorders, separation anxiety, social anxiety, and phobias

  • Children and adolescents who have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Children and adolescents with extreme picky eating, mealtime distress, or fears of choking or vomiting

  • Children struggling to attend therapy or refuse to participate in therapy directly.
