Unified Protocol Therapy (UP)
The Unified Protocol (UP) is an evidence-based form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy designed to treat anxiety, depression, and mood disorders through one streamlined approach. Instead of focusing on a single diagnosis, UP targets the shared root cause of emotional distress: difficulty tolerating and regulating intense, uncomfortable feelings.
What is UP?
By teaching core skills, UP provides practical tools for managing multiple conditions and gaining greater control over emotional well-being.
The key components include mindful awareness, cognitive flexibility, and safe exposure to emotions. Treatment may take as few as 8 to 10 sessions for focused goals or milder symptoms, or 16 to 20 sessions for clients with multiple co-occurring conditions, such as severe anxiety with depression or OCD.
Who is UP Therapy for?
Adults, teens, and children struggling with generalized anxiety, panic, depression, PTSD, OCD, or social anxiety
Adults, teens, and children who have multiple conditions at once (like anxiety and depression combined)
Adults, teens, and children that feel overwhelmed by intense emotions or uncomfortable body sensations
Adults, teens, and children who frequently avoid or escape distress through procrastination, distraction, or safety behaviors
